METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) - The New Orleans Saints offensive line is losing a big piece of its success. Center Erik McCoy is expected to have surgery for a groin injury that would sideline him for 6-8 weeks, according to a report by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The Pro Bowler left Sunday's loss to the Eagles on the third play of the game after suffering a groin injury. His absence was immediately felt. Through two weeks, New Orleans was averaging 185 rushing yards per game. In Week 3, the Saints had just 89 rushing yards. McCoy's absence is the second big loss to the Saints offensive line this season. Right tackle Ryan Ramczyk is out for the season with a lingering knee issue. With McCoy out, left guard Lucas Patrick is expected to take over at center like he did Sunday against the Eagles. The Saints then put Olisaemeka Udoh in at left guard against the Eagles. Udoh, Nick Saldiveri and Landon Young are all options for the starting left guard spot.
