BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - The St. Gabriel Police Department and Acadian Ambulance were called to a lake in the Carville area after a truck drove into a lake on Monday, Sept. 23. The call came in around 11:45 a.m., and officers arrived at the lake, which was "surrounded by heavy woods," SGPD said. They said the driver told them he was able to get out of the truck through the sunroof. The driver was checked out by Acadian Ambulance, and they said he was OK. A towing company and the St. Gabriel Police Department’s Search and Rescue team arrived at the lake and "the submerged vehicle was recovered from over 20 feet of water," SGPD said.
