HAMILTON — The Mercer County Improvement Authority (MCIA) has awarded the construction contract for the Hamilton Township Municipal Complex to Epic Management, Inc. MCIA advertised for Phase 2 of the project in summer 2024. The lowest bid was 15% under estimate. The MCIA Board voted to award the contract to Epic Management, Inc. on August 13. “Hamilton has explored a new Municipal Building for the Township since the 1980s under then-Mayor Rafferty,” said Mayor Martin. “To update two facilities – the Township Building, built in 1929, and the School District building, built in 1898, into one centrally located facility is a long time coming. To do it under budget and with the School District for the betterment of our residents makes it even better.” In late 2020, Hamilton Township acquired the property at 1750 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, vacant for over 15 years and formerly home to a ShopRite. The Township sought community input for the site’s use. The idea of a joint municipal complex was chosen. In May 2022, the Township entered an agreement with MCIA to manage the project. Demolition began in July 2023. Public forums were held to present design progress and seek input. Construction will begin in a matter of weeks, with expected completion in Fall 2026.
