WILKESBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson (R) said that he plans on "coming after CNN" during a campaign stop in Wilkesboro Monday. These comments come after key staffers exit Robinson's campaign and after several allegations in a report published by CNN on Thursday where Robinson referred to himself as a "Black Nazi" on an online forum. "We are going after them. We are going to go after them for what they’ve done. But, we have five weeks left in this race, folks. Make no mistake about it. We are not going to let CNN throw us off of our mission.” Robinson said. Robinson has denied the allegations against him, which include lewd and racist comments on the online forum. In a video uploaded to X (formally Twitter) Thursday, he said that he wouldn’t be forced out of the gubernatorial race by “salacious tabloid lies.” When asked by CBS 17 if the Republican Governor's Association plans to continue their support or advertise Robinson, they said in a statement Monday: "We don’t comment on internal strategy or investment decisions, but we can confirm what’s public — our current media buy in North Carolina expires tomorrow, and no further placements have been made. RGA remains committed to electing Republican Governors all across the country.” Robinson said that he has no interest in looking back except to correct the political mistakes so as not to repeat them. He also said that he would not let CNN or these allegations distract him from that. "You better understand I am coming after CNN full throttle because we have got to put the people first,” Robinson added. This campaign visit is also following Robinson making a stop at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway this past Saturday.
