BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 23-year-old is dead and a 3-year-old girl is in critical condition as a result of a crash in Amherst on Monday night, according to police. Police responded to Sheridan Drive at Essjay Road around 9:40 p.m. Monday, where it was found that an Impala being driven by a 23-year-old Williamsville man was driving eastbound on Sheridan when it was hit by a Honda CRV being driven by a 35-year-old man from Amherst, turning from westbound Sheridan onto southbound Essjay. The Impala burst into flames upon impact. The 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 3-year-old, a passenger in the CRV, was taken to ECMC and was later transferred to Oishei Children's Hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition. The 35-year-old was taken to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed. Witnesses or anyone with dashcam video is asked to contact the Amherst Police Department at (716) 689-1311.
