BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 23-year-old is dead and a 3-year-old girl is in critical condition as a result of a crash in Amherst on Monday night, according to police. Police responded to Sheridan Drive at Essjay Road around 9:40 p.m. Monday, where it was found that an Impala being driven by a 23-year-old Williamsville man was driving eastbound on Sheridan when it was hit by a Honda CRV being driven by a 35-year-old man from Amherst, turning from westbound Sheridan onto southbound Essjay. The Impala burst into flames upon impact. The 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 3-year-old, a passenger in the CRV, was taken to ECMC and was later transferred to Oishei Children's Hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition. The 35-year-old was taken to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.
