Former United States President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Savannah this afternoon. The focus of the rally, which is scheduled to take place in the Johnny Mercer Theatre downtown at the Savannah Civic Center, will be on manufacturing and on tax code. Photo by: Kerri Phox/The Atlanta VoiceEarlier in the day, Savannah Mayor Van Johnson, an outspoken and boisterous surrogate for the Harris-Walz campaign, has a press conference scheduled alongside Georgia State Rep. Anne Allen Westbrook, and Callie Beale Harper, a reproductive rights advocate. The press conference will pick up where United States Vice President Kamala Harris left off during her most recent rally in Cobb County last Friday. Georgia’s “Heartbeat Bill”, abortion, and the lack of OBGYNs in rural counties were topics of that rally. Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz visited Savannah on August 28. Georgia remains a battleground state that’s up for grabs. Several polls have the race tied, while others have either Harris or Trump ahead by the slimmest of margins. Early voting in Georgia begins on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
