(KRON) -- Oakland A's owner John Fisher published a letter to the team's fans on Monday, and it was not received well by most fans -- and even some players. Former MLB reliever Trevor May, who pitched on several teams including the A's before retiring last year, strongly criticized the letter on X. "With all due respect, which is more than you likely deserve, save it. Be an adult. Get in front of a camera and say it with your chest," May said to Fisher in part. 49ers injuries: Purdy gets MRI, McCaffrey heads to Germany, Hargrave likely out for season Fisher mentioned Oakland A's legends such as Dave Stewart, Rollie Fingers and Rickey Henderson and wrote about anecdotes surrounding the franchise. May does not believe Fisher wrote the statement. "Releasing a letter, clearly written by someone else, and including a bunch of names you DEFINITELY do not know, is just disrespectful to those that love the team," he said. At least one other MLB player, former A's outfielder Josh Reddick, agreed with May's statement, he tweeted. Fisher also wrote that his dream for the A's after purchasing the team was to win championships and build a new ballpark in Oakland. He says he and business partner Lew Wolff "did our very best to make that happen." He finished the letter by apologizing to A's fans for leaving and encouraging them to keep supporting as they move to Sacramento and eventually Las Vegas.
