(COLORADO SPRINGS) — VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) is hosting a mental health summit for local veterans, service members, and their families on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The mental health summit will discuss mental health issues affecting veterans. Participants can hear live panel discussions on subject-matter experts from the community and the VA. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Defense will be on-site, as well as other federal and state agencies, local mental health groups, Veterans service organizations, healthcare facilities, schools, and universities. Individuals interested in participating must register by Tuesday, Sept. 24 to attend the free event. The mental health summit will be held at the Penrose House Conference Center in Colorado Springs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This year, the ECHSS Mental Summit is focused on community inclusion to reduce social isolation and build resilience, gender-affirming behavioral healthcare, and substance abuse recovery.
