Republican Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance made multiple stops in Charlotte on the campaign trail Monday afternoon. In front of a crowd at Central Piedmont Community College Republican VP nominee senator JD Vance attacked current vice president Kamala Harris for her economic policies. “Everything has become more expensive under the policies of Kamala Harris,” Senator Vance said. “She cast the tie breaking vote on almost $4 trillion dollars of wasteful spending.” Senator Vance said. Trump/Vance supporters say they’re concerned about the economy and trust the republican ticket to make things right. “Trump is a billionaire actually,” James Dunn from Statesville said. “He knows the model, he knows how to make money, he knows how to create jobs. He has had his faults. I’m not saying he hasn’t, but that model worked for four years before COVID when Trump was President.” In his speech, Vance criticized Harris for her border policies. His supporters say Harris’ policies aren’t fair to people who cross the border the legal way. “I’m a legal immigrant and then I see thousands of people coming through the border unchecked,” Sanjay who emigrated from India to Charlotte in 2015 said. Vance spread repeatedly debunked rumors about Haitian migrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. “Everything that’s going on in Springfield Ohio first of all comes from Kamala Harris’ wide open borders,” Senator Vance said. “A small town in Ohio with 20 thousand migrants.” Monday marked Vance’s first rally since a CNN investigation revealed North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson made racially charged and sexually graphic comments on a pornography platform but supporters say they still plan to vote him. “We need to base our vote on action, on things that are really issues, not your personality, not what you may or may not have done in the past, but it needs to be now,” supporter Laura Newell from Mooresville said. After CPCC, Vance spoke at Freedom House church in North Charlotte where he urged supporters to commit to helping the Trump campaign. “My friends it is tight and there’s a lot that needs to happen between now and [November 5th] to ensure we win this race for the American people,” Senator Vance said. At both events, Vance asked supporters to post about the rally on social media and commit to getting at least 10 people to the polls to vote for Trump.
