ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Police Department kicks off its Citizen's Police Academy on October 9. The event spans 10 consecutive Wednesday nights, featuring classes on police policy, procedure, and operations. Police say the goal is to improve the relationship between the department and the community they serve. Attendees will have the opportunity to comment and offer suggestions about procedure and the academy curriculum. "We've been doing it since 1992," RPD Captain Greg Bello said. "This will be our 32nd class and we've gotten incredible feedback from different leaders within our community, different business owners, and frankly people who live within our city, so that's what we're looking for."
