Slight warming trend early this week with thick marine layer clouds at coast
Sep 23, 2024
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Afternoon temperatures were warming up nicely Monday after the sun broke through the clouds.
Monday is expected to be a few degrees warmer than Sunday as a low-pressure trough over Southern California weakens and exits the region.
Temperature are trending four to eight degrees above average with not much change for Tuesday.
Daytime highs at the coast for Tuesday will top out in the mid to upper-70s, upper-80s for inland areas, mid-80s for mountains and near 105 degrees for the deserts.
The marine layer Monday morning was almost 2,000-feet deep and had widespread low cloud coverage into East County. Clouds were a bit slower to clear especially west of Interstate 5, where there was expected to be some foggy conditions as clouds mixed with terrain.
A few degrees of cooling was expected for middle parts of the week; otherwise, mild conditions are forecast for this week.
