(KRON) – Contra Costa College announced its inductee to its inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame. The induction will include a first-ever class of 100 athletes, coaches, and contributors who “have demonstrated excellence in their respective sports and brought honor to the college through their achievements.” Notable alums such as Dallas Cowboys cornerback and Super Bowl champion Benny Barnes, Olympic gold medalist and track and field star Eddie Hart and the first African American player for the Boston Red Sox Pumpsie Green are a few of the first inductees. Benny Barnes and Eddie Hart are shining examples of the exceptional talent that has emerged from our programs, and we are proud to recognize their achievements alongside our other inductees,” said Alvarado. According to CCC, the college even commenced selecting former student-athletes for the second round of inductions. Contra Costa College will host an induction ceremony that will take place on Nov. 8 at the college.
