GODDARD, Kan. (KSNW) -- Wichita has been chosen as the host city for the first combined Midwest Plains Regional Tournament for the Babe Ruth League. Although Wichita was chosen as the host, the games will be played in Goddard at the Genesis Sports Complex. The regional tournament will take place July 23-27. The Midwest Plains Region includes teams from Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The Babe Ruth League comprises multiple t-ball, baseball, and softball teams that compete in different age groups from 8 to 18. In previous years, the different age groups competed in regional tournaments in different cities in the Midwest Plains region. 2025 will mark the first time regional games will all be played in the same city and the first time Kansas and the Wichita area have hosted one. Sedgwick County candidate forums tonight “We are thrilled to bring the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament to Wichita in 2025,” said Tim Kuntz, Midwest Plains Regional commissioner of the Babe Ruth League, in a news release. “The top-notch facilities, welcoming spirit and array of attractions make it the perfect location for our tournament. We look forward to an exciting week of baseball and community engagement.” “Hosting the Babe Ruth League’s Midwest Plains Regional Tournament is a significant honor for Wichita,” said Josh Howell, vice president of sports development at Visit Wichita. “We are excited to welcome the athletes, families, coaches and fans to Wichita, a city known for its central location in the Heart of the Country, its hospitality and passion for sports."
