HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Health's (VDH) Chickahominy Health District is hosting a free flu vaccine clinic in Hanover County which is open to anyone regardless of their health insurance coverage or where they live. The clinic will take place at the First Union Baptist Church, located at 6131 Pole Green Road in the Mechanicsville area of Hanover, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. The clinic will be offering the seasonal flu vaccine Fluarix to people between the ages of 6 months to 64 years old. No health insurance or proof of residence is required to get a vaccine, but anyone below the age of 18 is asked to have a parent or guardian present. People over the age of 64 should get a high dose flu shot, which will not be available at this clinic, according to the department. VDH hosting free flu vaccine clinics in Tri-Cities, southern Virginia Anyone looking to get a flu shot at the event is asked to wear a short-sleeve shirt.
