High Surf Advisory in effect until this evening for ocean-facing beaches of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Waves of 6-10 feet will be crashing on our coastline. Please stay off rocks and jetties. Good Evening Our weather looks to stay cooler and dry over the next few days. A persistent easterly breezy off the ocean with keep skies varying between party and mostly cloudy. Any outdoor work or activities looks OK with temperatures generally in the 60s. Our next weather system approaches Wednesday night into Thursday with scattered light showers. Drier air works back in By Friday and is expected to extend into the weekend with milder temperatures by Saturday and Sunday. MAJOR HURRICANE LIKELY EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO MID TO LATE WEEK We continue to see signals for a hurricane (and perhaps a major one) to approach the eastern Gulf of Mexico later this week. This next storm will be called HELENE.  Early indications point to a possible landfall somewhere between the Panhandle of Florida, to as far east as Tampa Florida. Latest guidance is narrowing in close to the Big Bend area on Florida’s west coast by Thursday Stay tuned for updates. (see details below). Temperatures overnight will cool into the 50s TUESDAY FORECAST Mostly cloudy skies, with some peeks of sun at times too Tuesday. Highs in the mid 60s. LOOKING AHEAD Dry weather will extend into daylight hours of Wednesday with increasing clouds, highs in the mid 60s. Scattered light showers arrive Wednesday night into Thursday under mostly cloudy skies.  This system will pull way Friday with some peeks of sun and drier conditions on Friday and extending into the weekend. Long range forecast indicates that any remnant moisture from hurricane Helene will stay out of New England.
