SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Family, friends and law enforcement are still trying to find answers to the question that has gripped the Sioux Falls area since September 4th: Where is Tyler Weathersby? Since Weathersby's disappearance, the Sioux Falls Police Department has combed through surveillance video and conducted physical searches. They have also followed up on leads from the public and have encouraged anyone with information to come forward. 18-year-old charged with weapon on school grounds Saturday It's been nearly three weeks since Tyler Weathersby was seen walking away from his western Sioux Falls home. Police Chief Jon Thum says so far, the investigation into his disappearance doesn't appear to be criminal. "We investigate everything with the same tools and tactics, whether it says criminal or not," Thum said. Police have gotten some useful tips from the public. "Now, tips are key on this. We're still getting tips over the weekend that have come in that have led us some new directions and some spots we can check," Thum said. But not every tip helps with the investigation. "A tip of value is not a theory. A tip of value is not a suggestion. A tip of value is, "I know this or I see this,'" Thum said. And according to Thum and Weathersby's family, the theories about his disappearance that are popping up on social media are not helpful. "I want to point this out, because this is a very real case. Tyler has friends, family and loved ones who care about him deeply. For some of the public, this has become Internet sleuthing or real crime drama or entertainment," Thum said. "I actually have gone off of social media just for my mental being because I feel like a lot of it is a big distraction to actually finding him. There are false narratives going around, and it's not helping him being found and finding where he went and where he's at," Tyler's wife, Monalisa Perez, said last week. Just like police, all the family wants is to bring Tyler home. "Right now, it's just really just being able to have the resources to do what we need to do to find Tyler," Tyler Weathersby's brother, Gregory Weathersby, said last week. "I just want my husband home, and if he's out there, please know that you are loved. Please come home," Perez said. Police have received calls about a man with similar physical characteristics as Tyler that lives in the area of Russell and Kiwanis in Sioux Falls, but police have confirmed that individual is not Tyler.
