SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- An organization encouraging young children to learn through play is expanding west. "We are a free toy library for kids 0-5 years old to have opportunities to learn through play," Toy Lending Library Executive Director Anelis Coscioni said. 4 South Dakota schools given National Blue Ribbon The Toy Lending Library can be found in communities across eastern South Dakota, including seven spots in Sioux Falls. "Our toy boxes are resources, are ways for families to connect, ways for families to have family time, to build their relationship," Coscioni said. Anelis Coscioni is the executive director of the Toy Lending Library, which is now headed west to Huron, and it's a two-way street. "We are building a true partnership where they're fundraising to support our operations. It takes a lot to make and repair to keep those toy boxes alive for kids to play," Coscioni said. "This was an opportunity for bringing in a tool for different agencies and entities in Huron to be that part of social development of children," People's Transit Executive Director Gayle Kludt said. People's Transit will transport the toy boxes to and from a variety of locations in Huron once a month. South Dakota’s fallen heroes bridge dedications "We're down here 3-5 times a week anyway doing non-emergency medical transportation and so it would be no cost to the Toy Lending Library program in Huron for us to be the vehicle, literally, to bring the totes back and forth to Huron," Kludt said. Gayle Kludt is the executive director of People's Transit. The nonprofit will deliver about 20 toy boxes to Bright Start, Head Start, and Community Counseling Services, among other locations. "There's going to be so many kids that are going to be able to benefit from these totes and have an opportunity to develop their social skills and get them more prepared for school," Kludt said. Coscioni says Huron isn't the end of the road. "Our dream is every child to have opportunity to learn through play," Coscioni said. The Toy Lending Library currently has 19 locations, stretching from Madison to Parkston, and now Huron.
