(WGHP)-- Thomas Kemp, of Indian Trail, checked his Cash 5 ticket early Thursday morning and realized he won a $110,000 jackpot, according to an NC Education Lottery news release “I woke up my wife screaming, ‘Get up. We won,’” Kemp said. “I probably woke the neighbors, too.” Randolph County brothers to split $233,442 jackpot after buying $1 ticket at convenience store Kemp bought his winning $1 ticket from the BP on Idlewild Road in Indian Trail. His ticket matched all five numbers in Wednesday’s drawing to win the jackpot. The odds of matching numbers on all five balls are 1 in 962,598. “I’m still shaking,” Kemp said. “It was an exciting moment.” Kemp said he uses family birthdays to pick his Cash 5 numbers. “I’ve been using them for a long time, and it paid off,” he said. He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Monday in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $78,653.
