WAUTOMA, Wis. (WFRV) - A Waushara County manufacturing plant has notified the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development that it will close by the end of January 2025.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retention Notification letter submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Mayville Engineering Company, located at 431 E. Division St. in Wautoma, will close down by Jan. 31, 2025.

Several employees, such as production leads, metal finishers, welders, and others, will be laid off on two separate dates prior to Jan. 31, 2025. Those dates are Nov. 16, 2024, and Nov. 22, 2024. In total, 43 Wisconsinites will be without a job following the total closure.
A union does not represent the affected employees, and Mayville Engineering Company says that bumping rights do not exist. Bumping rights mean senior-level employees whose positions have been eliminated will not be offered alternative positions currently held by a less senior employee.
