FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Nearly four months after a fire forced its temporary closure, Powers will again be serving up burgers at its original location. Powers Hamburgers announced Monday the restaurant will open its doors Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. It had reopened under new ownership in the spring, but an electrical fire on June 25 caused the restaurant at Harrison and Brackenridge streets to close. In the aftermath of the fire, the community could still get their Powers fix at a food truck and at Electric Works. The burger joint's last day there will be Oct. 5 in anticipation of reopening the iconic brick-and-mortar. "We are deeply thankful to everyone who has supported us during this challenging time," said Alex Richardson, managing partner of the restaurant through Salvatori’s Hospitality Group. "From the firefighters and construction teams to our loyal customers who visited our food truck and Electric Works locations, this comeback is as much about them as it is about us."
