EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - In honor of its 130th anniversary, the El Paso Public Libraries will host a series of free open houses at all branch libraries to showcase services, resources and programs that are available to the community, the City of El Paso announced in a news release. During the open house events, visitors will have the opportunity to meet with librarians and library staff to learn about free services and programs while getting to know their neighborhood library, according to the City. The City said there will be library tours, free refreshments, swag, giveaways and pictures with the Public Libraries mascot, Lea. The first open house will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Westside Branch Library, 125 Belvidere. Additional open house events in October include: José Cisneros Cielo Vista Branch at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9. Irving Schwartz Branch at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25. You can find a complete list of open house locations, dates and times here. The Public Libraries has 14 branch libraries, including a branch at the EPCC Transmountain Campus and a bookmobile. Libraries offer free services including historical research archives, passport services, public meeting spaces, a free high school program for adults, story times and developmental programs for children as well as downloadable resources, according to the City.
