WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - As Israel launched an aerial assault against rebel group Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Pentagon announced it is sending more U.S. troops to the Middle East. The Pentagon would not confirm exactly how many troops it’s deploying only referring to them as a small amount. The deployment only raises concerns about a broader war in the Middle East. Right now, Israeli leaders are threatening more aggressive strikes in Lebanon if Hezbollah does not surrender. "Take this warning seriously,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After launching its most deadly attack inside Lebanon in nearly two decades, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is urging civilians to flee areas where they say Hezbollah is storing weapons. Israeli air strikes killed more than 300 people in Lebanon Monday morning in response to Hezbollah launching hundreds of rockets into Israel, most intercepted by Israel’s iron dome defense. "We're going to do everything we can to keep a wider war from breaking out,” said President Joe Biden. While meeting with the United Arab Emirates president at the White House President Joe Biden said his administration is pushing hard to de-escalate tensions and end the war. “That allows people return to their homes safely,” said Biden. President Biden admits he's concerned as fighting picks up. Republicans, meanwhile, are blaming the president for the chaos spreading abroad. "We don't have strong leadership right now,” said Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa.). The Trump campaign insists if the former president was in office none of this would be happening. White House advisor John Kirby said recent strikes in Lebanon are not the best way to get a hostage deal but insists Hamas is the biggest obstacle.
