Genesee Community College student charged with criminal possession of a weapon

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Genesee Community College student was arrested Sunday and charged with criminal possession of a weapon following a report to campus safety regarding an alleged social media post, the Genesee County Sheriff's Office announced.
According to officials, the post allegedly depicted 19-year-old Anthony Parks of New York, NY with what appeared to be a handgun.
An investigation found that Parks allegedly possessed an unregistered loaded pistol with a high capacity magazine while at College Village Student Housing. No threats by Parks of using the handgun were found during the investigation.
Parks was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon as well as criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $5,000 dollars bond.
