2 arrested for over $102k trailer theft in Orleans County

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two people were arraigned Friday in connection with a string of thefts in Orleans and Niagara counties.
Paul Rutherford Jr., 51, and Cori Rutherford, 27, are accused of stealing a trailer from Lake Shore Metals in Ridgeway in February. The Orleans County Sheriff's Office said the two took the over $102,000 trailer to North Carolina the day they stole it, selling it for $4,000.
Investigators said others were involved in the plan to steal the trailer, but their names are being withheld.
Paul Rutherford was also accused of stealing a farm truck from Root Brother's Farm in Barre, a farm truck from the Town of Newfane, diesel fuel, pumps, hoses and equipment from Grow Mark FS Inc. in Ridgeway, as well as a hydraulic hammer in Lockport.
In total, investigators said Paul has stolen roughly $200,000 of property since January, leading to eight criminal cases with the possibility of more charges.
Paul Rutherford Jr. was charged with the following:
two counts, second-degree grand larceny
two counts, third-degree grand larceny
third-degree burglary
fourth-degree criminal mischief
Paul posted bail and was released. He also faces grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property charges in Niagara County.
Cori Rutherford was charged with second-degree grand larceny and was released on his own recognizance.
