DICKINSON, N.D. (KXNET) — Four people are being considered to serve as interim president at Dickinson State University. The state board of higher ed is looking for a new president after former university president Steve Easton resigned in July after the DSU nursing faculty abruptly resigned over conflicts with some of Easton's goals and directives. Since then, Ty Orton — the executive director of the DSU Heritage Foundation — has been serving as acting president. The selection of potential candidates includes Holly Gruhlke, who is the Vice President and Chief Strategic Officer at DSU. She oversees the admissions process, university relations, and marketing. A second candidate, Lucas Kavlie, is the Vice President and Provost of Academic Engagement at Western Governors University, which is based in Salt Lake City. The third option is Ronald Kraft, the College Coach and Consultant at the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (a non-profit based in Long Beach, California). The fourth finalist is William Ruud, who's been a college president for 17 years — including at Marietta College and the University of Northern Iowa. The State Board of Higher Education meets on Tuesday morning, and is expected to appoint a new interim president. Meanwhile, a search committee will soon start meeting to discuss finding a new permanent President for the university. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
