AUSTIN (KXAN) — Nearly half a million people will descend on Austin in less than two weeks, as the Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival kicks off. Starting Monday, the festival area at Zilker Park closes to the public as load-in begins, according to Austin Parks and Recreation.  ACL daily schedules: Chappell Roan moved from Saturday to Sunday Now in its 23rd year, the festival runs Oct. 4-6 and Oct. 11-13. As festivalgoers gear up, the City of Austin is giving attendees and locals some tips for getting around and staying safe.  Traffic disruptions near Zilker Park In addition to some load-out disruptions to nearby parking lots through Oct. 19, road closures throughout both ACL weekends include Stratford Drive, Barton Springs Road, Azie Morton Road, the Northbound Mopac Access Road, and others. There will be shuttle access only along MoPac throughout the festival days, from 11 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. If you’re looking for easy access to the park, ACL will provide a shuttle from Republic Square Park and drop concertgoers at the Barton Springs west entrance, according to a release from the City of Austin. ACL will also provide return transportation to downtown Austin.  Other options include CapMetro’s route 803, which rides to the intersection of South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Springs Road. For those using ride-sharing services, pickups and drop-off points are accessible under the MoPac Expressway pedestrian bridge at Veterans Drive, Lee Barton Drive and Wallingwood Drive.  You can find more information about road closures and accessibility on the Austin City Limits Mobility Guide here. Staying safe at ACL Attendees are also reminded to avoid keeping phones in their back pockets and to secure them in their front pockets or fanny packs. Additionally, the Austin Police Department encourages people to record the serial number information of their devices. If issues arise, you can check the ACL Fest lost and found page, or report your stolen device on APD's site. To stay safe in the event of a medical emergency or to locate others, festivalgoers should download the What3Words App, which allows precise location sharing. Throughout the festival, attendees can also stay updated by following the Austin Police Department, Austin-Travis County EMS, Austin Fire Department, and Austin Emergency Management on X and Facebook, along with ACL Fest.
