65-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision near Buttemere Road PHELAN, CA  (September 23, 2024) – Cynthia Moss died Monday night, in a pedestrian accident on Phelan Road. The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m., just east of Buttemere Road. Per reports, the driver of a white 2009 or 2010 Kia Sportage was traveling east when they struck a woman crossing the street. The victim, who was walking south and using a walker, suffered fatal injuries. EMTs pronounced her dead at the scene. Authorities later identified her as 65-year-old Moss from Phelan. The driver of the Kia fled the scene before emergency crews arrived, and officials are now searching for the suspect vehicle, which likely has front-end damage.
