66-Year-Old Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Atkinson Avenue KILLEEN, TX (September 23, 2024) – One woman died Wednesday morning, in a pedestrian accident on 38th Street and Atkinson Avenue. Dispatchers received calls at approximately 8:50 a.m., on August 7th. According to reports, the driver of a gray Ford pickup truck was traveling east on Atkinson and attempted to turn onto northbound 38th Street. During the turn, the Ford struck a woman who was crossing westbound on 38th Street in a marked crosswalk. First responders found the woman on the roadway with critical injuries, and paramedics rushed her to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 9:26 a.m. The identity of the woman has not yet been released. An ongoing investigation is underway, and more information will be provided once it becomes available.
