FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) has released the name of the woman who was hit and killed by a pick-up truck while trying to cross the street in Oakton over the weekend. In an update, police identified the woman as 80-year-old Choon Kook, of Vienna, Police said on Sept. 21, just before 8:45 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of Hunter Mill Road and Lynnhaven Place, near the Oakton Shopping Center, for a crash involving a pedestrian. During their investigation, police learned that a Ford F-150 struck Kook after she entered the crosswalk. Police said the driver was trying to make a turn into the shopping center when they hit her. Takoma Park PD launches Red-Light Camera Enforcement Program Responders took Kook to the hospital, where she later died. Police said the driver stayed at the scene, and speed and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
