WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- One unplanned stop for a U.S. Postal Service worker turned into a lucky strike, winning $1 million! One U.S. Postal Service worker from Washington D.C. usually makes his way across state lines to play Maryland Lottery scratch-offs. On an unexpected trip to the 7-Eleven on Solomons Island Road in Harwood, he bought instant tickets. The USPS worker purchased several games, including the Millionaire's Club, and went home to unveil his luck. PHOTOS: DC News Now attends H Street Festival “Thank you, Lord,” he exclaimed after scratching off the $20 Millionaire’s Club instant ticket.  The postal worker, who remained anonymous, matched the winning number 54 for the corresponding $1 million top prize. He told the Virginia Lottery that he worked at USPS for 30 years and that retirement might be within reach. When asked about his plans for his winnings, he said he was going to pay some of his bills. Virginia Lottery said the Millionaire's Club instant ticket went on sale in July with five $1 million top prizes. The win leaves three remaining, along with five unclaimed $50,000 prizes, 10 $10,000 prizes and others ranging from $20 to $5,000.
