HOLLAND, Mass. (WWLP) - The Holland Police Department is warning residents of a scheme that is threatening the release of embarrassing videos. How to avoid job schemes According to the Holland Police Department, several residents have received emails threatening the release of videos. There are several different versions of the scheme, but one email alleged that a resident's computer had been hacked and an embarrassing video recording had been made of them. The schemers have been asking for payment using Bitcoin to not release the video to the victim's contacts and it might include the victim's name, address, and a photo of their neighborhood. If you receive an email like this, the Federal Trade Commission says to not pay anything and to delete the message. If you, or someone you know, get a message like this, report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
