Ware County High School students to be released after 'shot fired' reports

WAYCROSS, Ga. (WSAV) – Ware County High School was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon after "reports of a shot fired," according to a statement from the school district.
"At this time, we do not believe there is an active shooter situation as no evidence has been found to that effect, but we are taking the threat seriously and following our established protocols," Ware County Schools stated.
Deputies and detectives from the Ware County Sheriff's Office responded to the school to clear the campus.
They verified that no one was hurt.
According to the district, students will be released from the high school once the building is cleared.
"Parents will receive information about pickup times and locations," the statement continued. "Please do not come to the campus at this time. It is blocked off. We will continue to send updates as they become available. Thank you."
