RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Stormtracker8 Meteorologists Matt DiNardo and Jacqueline Waters sat down in the WRIC NOW livestreaming studio on Monday to talk about "Helene" and give a tropics update. Hurricane season is still upon us and there is some concern about developments in the gulf that could turn into "Helene" sometime soon. "[There's] defintiely a lot of convection, a lot of disorganized storms, but not a developed system, we don't have a center that we're watching," Waters said. "[There's] a 90% chance of [it] developing over the next week, but probably within the next 12 to 24 hours we are going to likely see this develop into some sort of organized tropical system." The hosts then took some time to answer questions from viewers. A person asked about how this storm will effect local catfishing -- prompting DiNardo to plug Off the Hook (which streams at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesdays). "I don't really think that we're going to get a ton of rain here right now, this new indication is that we might not for Friday, so the James River levels should not get that high," DiNardo said. For more information about the rain that Richmond saw over the last week, check out the previous episode of Weather University. Watch more livestream content on the WRIC NOW page.
