SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — Town council members are expected to discuss South County Health during their regular scheduled meeting tonight. Physicians from the hospital have stated a lack of support relationships between executive leadership and providers, most recently exemplified by the resignations of the Cancer Center staff due to “irreconcilable differences over issues directly affecting patient care.” South County Health is mentioned in two agenda items for the upcoming meeting tonight, including the “discussion and potential action relative to holding a work session with South County Health leadership, as requested by Council Member Bergner” and “potential action relative to the purchase and sales agreement (PSA) with South County Health (SCH) for the Department of Public Services building, as requested by Council Member Sweet.” Back on Sept. 12, patients, doctors, and members of the community voiced their concern with the level of care at South County Hospital. The group called for leadership changes at the hospital and said they believe recent management decisions have threatened to erode its future and quality of care. Categories: News
