LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department has issued an alert due to a recent spike in suspected nonfatal drug overdoses in the area. According to health officials, the city recorded 24 overdoses from last Tuesday through Friday. In response to the surge, health authorities are urging residents to carry naloxone, a medication known to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses. The health department’s Harm Reduction Program is making naloxone available to anyone who needs it, as part of their efforts to combat the ongoing opioid crisis.
