Multiple Days 21 locations picked to get mural treatment at 2nd annual Carson City Murals & Music Festival The Brewery Arts Center’s second annual Carson City Murals & Music Festival will bring live musical performances and as many as 21 new, colorful murals to Carson City beginning Thursday, Sept. 26 through Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024. This year’s festival artists will add to the 23 murals created at last year's inaugural festival. 105th annual Genoa Candy Dance The Candy Dance is back this weekend in Genoa celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Arts and Crafts Faire. Each day the Candy Dance runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy a variety of local artisans, craftsmen, and food vendors. Teen Hours in the Digitorium Come visit the Carson City Library and hang out in a space designed with teens in mind! Monday through Friday 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. All teens welcome! September is Library Card Signup Month at the Carson City Library The month of September is Library Card Sign Up Month. New patrons who sign up for a card starting now until September 30th get to choose a free book to keep from our book corral. All library cardholders can participate in library card bingo for a prize. Pick up and return your completed bingo boards to the info desk before the end of the month. Edwards Motor Car rides at the Nevada State Railroad Museum Come down Saturdays and Sundays and take a ride on the historic Tucson, Cornelia & Gila Bend No. 401 Edwards Motor Car. Built in 1926 by the Edwards Motor Car Company, the 401 hauled passengers between Ajo and Gila Bend, Arizona, from 1926 until 1947. Rides occur approximately every 40 minutes from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Fares are $8 ages 12 and over; $4 ages 4-11 and museum members; and FREE ages 3 and under. Register Now! Board Game Night at 3 Arrows Games Join the Minden Board Game group and others for a weekly meet up of table top fun. Making the water fun for your guppy is the most important step in preparing for swim lessons. This class is designed to acquaint adult and child wild play activities and to teach very basic fundamental skills. The course is parent-driven, under the supervision of an instructor. No registration required. Class is limited to 12 adult/child pairs on a first-come first served basis. For ages 6 months to 4 years. Storytime Wednesdays at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada Join in for weekly storytime with an accompanying craft each Wednesday. Recommended for children ages 1 - 6. Saturday, Sept. 28 Bear Walk at Long Ranch Park Join the Park Rangers for an educational walk all about the black bears! While enjoying a walk along the paved paths around Long Ranch Park, you will gain a deeper understanding of these fascinating creatures and the ecosystem they call home. From 3 to 4 p.m. This hike i considered easy, expect flat terrain for about two miles. Dress for the weather and bring plenty of water. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and dogs are allowed on leash. Carson City Ghost Walk this Saturday Carson City’s rich and intriguing history officially celebrates 31 years as we explore, narrate and theatrically embrace Carson City’s beautiful Victorian westside in these seasonal evening walking tours, led by Madame Curry (a spirited and historically fictional character named after the widow of Carson City’s founder, Abe Curry) some special guests and her Spirit Wranglers. These ghostly and witty community spirits lead you through Carson City's Historically Haunted West Side highlighting the stories and legends of the Wild West town. This season Madame Curry will share her Penny Dreadful’s on each tour. Mural Movie double feature at the BAC Celebrate the memory of the of the 21st century’s two most prolific muralists during a free screening at the BAC Outdoor Stage. Guests are welcome to bring their own chairs but folding chairs will be available for those traveling light. Also enjoy local food trucks and refreshments from the BAC bar. Carson City’s Walk/Run to Remember 5K for Alzheimer’s returns Sept. 28 with music, food trucks and more On Saturday, Sept. 28, Carson City will host its third annual 5K Walk/Run to Remember benefit for the Northern Nevada Alzheimer's Association. In addition to the race, there will be food trucks, live music, vendors and more. Inaugural Tahoe Bear Fest happening Sept. 28 at Spooner Lake State Park The Tahoe Interagency Bear Team and Nevada Division of State Parks will host its first-ever Tahoe Bear Fest at Spooner Lake State Park in Lake Tahoe on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This bear-focused, family-friendly event is designed to educate and engage the public on living and recreating responsibly in bear country. 27th Annual Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day happening September 28 What we are doing: Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are invited to this fun, hands-on restoration event. By pitching in, you will help improve the ecosystem functions and wildlife habitats that surround Lake Tahoe. Sunday, Sept. 29 Messy Kids Art School to celebrate Grandparents & Kids Day Join Messy Kids Art School for Grandparents & Kids Day. Grandparents, bring the grand babies down for an easy Sunday morning at the studio!
