Despite the Seahawks not losing a game this season, the Lions still have a formidable roster, and the good folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook have set the opening betting line for Week 4 at Lions -4.5 points. The Lions and Seahawks have faced off in each of the last three seasons and Detroit has come out on the losing end in each of them, most recently losing in overtime on Week 2 of the 2023 season. But the Lions' bad luck extends beyond this current regime, as they have not beaten the Seahawks since 2012. On offense, the Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith leads the way and is averaging 262.3 passing yards per game, along with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He has loads of weapons at his disposal, including wide receivers DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, as well as tight end Noah Fant and running back Zach Charbonnet. Starting running back Kenneth Walker is currently injured but there is optimism that he will be able to return for this week’s game in Detroit. On defense, most of their success has come via their secondary, where they’ve yet to allow a team to pass for 150 yards on them. Now, while that record-breaking stat is pretty remarkable, it’s also worth noting the quarterbacks they’ve faced. Denver’s rookie Bo Nix threw for 138 yards, Patriots’ Jacoby Brissett hit 149 passing yards, and while the Dolphins had 186 passing yards as a team, they needed Tim Boyle (79 passing yards) to close things out after Skyler Thompson (107) was forced from the game due to injury (note: Dolphins starter Tua Tagovailoa was out with a concussion). Injuries of note: Beyond Walker, the Seahawks have several other starters who are banged up. EDGE Uchenna Nwosu missed this week’s game with a knee injury, while first-round pick defensive tackle Byron Murphy left the game with a hamstring injury and defensive lineman Leonard Williams exited with a rib injury. Additionally, right tackle George Fant (who has been starting in place of Abraham Lucas, who is on the PUP list) was placed on injured reserve and the Seahawks have now turned to Stone Forsythe to play starter snaps at right tackle.
