Apartment fire displaces several in Rockville, causes about $100k in damages

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Several families were displaced after a fire erupted at an apartment complex in Rockville on Sunday afternoon, according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).
In a post on X at 4:23 p.m., MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said there was a fire on the second floor of Village Square/Bethesda Park apartments on Crossfield Court and that residents were evacuating.

MCFRS said the fire likely started in the kitchen and extended into the walls.

Crews quickly got the fire under control, and no one was injured.
However, the fire displaced seven apartment units, affecting 12 residents and pets, according to Piringer.
Officials said the fire caused about $100,000 in damages.
