ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monday marks 10 years since her debut, top 10 single 'Ex's and Oh's' was released and launched her to stardom. Now one decade later, Grammy-nominated artist Elle King is bringing all she's learned to a Rochester stage later this week. News 8's Gio Battaglia sat down with King to hear what's in store for the show. Elle King: "This has been a very, very exciting tour. We had a great run of festivals all summer, so we kind of spent that time tightening up our set and getting our headline show very locked in. I think we're putting on my favorite show that we've ever put on, and it's also super exciting because we're playing music from the new album that i'm almost done with, and that makes my heart very happy. News 8's Gio Battaglia: Monday marks 10 years since "Ex's and Oh's was released, which is absolutely, I was just looking it up, which is totally crazy. Take me through the past 10 years. Did you know that [anniversary] was happening? That was the anniversary date? Elle King: No, Oh my Gosh, am I old? I think I'm old. My baby's 10! That's so crazy. The last 10 years have been... 10 years! That's nuts. It's been crazy. And how beautiful that it's been a decade. I feel like I look back on it and I feel proud. Maybe I shouldn't have said a few things here and there, but I wouldn't change a thing. And I just never thought that that song would send me on the trajectory that I've been on. Gio Battaglia: I don't know how many details you can get into about the new album, but talk about where your songwriting is right now, and the headspace you're in and putting it together. Elle King: I mean, this year has been a pretty wild roller coaster, but I feel like it's been the year of truth-telling and looking in the mirror. And, I didn't expect to have any form of footing in any semblance. I didn't think that my year was going to ever have joy. And this year has actually ended up being really, really great. Gio Battaglia: What can people who are coming to the show expect? 1 Elle King: It's just a happy tour. And I love to see it. People still bring their kids. And I see lots of littles on shoulders, and it's so sweet. I'm blown away by how young some of these kids are singing my lyrics. It's really funny, but, it's a really fun show. Elle King's Rochester stop is Friday, September 27 at the Kodak Center. For ticket information, click here.
