HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The 5th annual Egyptian Festival took place in Henrico over the weekend, offering people the to opportunity to celebrate with music, dancing and authentic Egyptian food. The Egyptian Festival took place at St. Mary and St. Philopater Mercurius Coptic Orthodox Church on Sept. 21 and Sept. 22 as people took a trip to Egypt through live music, church tours and homemade Egyptian food. Mera Khalil -- who created the festival show that was performed every two hours -- talked to 8News about her favorite part of the festival. "My favorite part is to get together as a family and to prepare everything out of love. We made everything out of scratch with all the love that we could put in, and it's the best experience -- you're experiencing Egypt," Khalil said.
