NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — Heavy rainfall washed through the metro Sunday afternoon. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Police warn of major flooding throughout Norman Norman was one of the areas hit hardest by flooding during the downpours. Brooke Hieronymus is a student at the University of Oklahoma. "I was coming back from lunch with my boyfriend, and we were like, it took, like, 30 minutes to get to campus because every road was blocked. We couldn't get through. The waters were so deep," says Hieronymus. Norman Flooding, Image courtesy KFOR Flash flood advisories were sent out Sunday afternoon for many areas in Norman, Moore and parts of the metro. Norman Police warned members in the community on social media to "Turn around, don't drown." Hieronymus says, "It's the first time it's rained like this since I've been on campus, really." Norman Flooding, Image courtesy KFOR Chloe Grimes is another OU student speaking to News 4 about her troubles getting around campus near Elm Avenue and Lindsey Street. "We came from our dorm room, which is about 15 minutes away, and we thought that the rain had slowed down so we were like, No, we can just stick it out and walk, but it's pouring," says Grimes. Ditches near Robinson and 48th were also filled with water. Trucks and cars in the area were seen trying to drive through massive waves. Students on campus tell News 4 they're trying to stay dry and get to where they need to be. "It's the first time of the year that it's been bad here," says Hieronymus.
