PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now)-- Hispanic Heritage Month is being celebrated from September 15 to October 15 and during this month, the Hispanic community in the County will showcase its culture, music and food. Samantha Howard, who is the Prince George's County Latino Affairs Liaison, said she is excited to be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month for four weeks to show off Latino culture. “It is really important to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month here in Prince George's County and Latinos have a good opportunity to show who we are and share our experiences and our culture and food and vibrant experiences that bring to Prince George’s County," said Howard. Hispanic Heritage Month: First Latino Olympic artist representing U.S. continues to make change in Maryland Howard said another big responsibility she has is to advocate on all matters affecting the well-being of the Hispanic population including providing services. “As the Latino Affairs Liaison, my job is to connect the community to the services that the government offers. Whether that be entrepreneurship and business owners or education public safety or health to make sure the community can successfully engage with them," said Howard. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Hispanic Festival. More than 4,000 people are expected to attend the festival in Langley Park.
