A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide after he allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian while driving drunk and speeding on South Parker Road near Interstate 225 early Sunday morning, according to the Aurora Police Department. Investigators found the driver of a white Infiniti SUV, Jose Perez, was speeding southbound on South Parker Road when he lost control, crashed into another vehicle and hit a pedestrian. Perez then ran over a light pole and two trees before his SUV came to a stop in the intersection of South Parker Road and South Peoria Street, police officials said. The pedestrian, a man, died at the scene. His name will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. No one in either vehicle was injured. Perez was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and reckless driving. Southbound lanes of South Parker Road were closed at South Peoria Street for 10 hours because of the crash investigation, Aurora police said in a post on X.
