INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Colts picked up their first win of the season against the Bears, 21-16. The Colts rushing offense powered them to the win. They picked up 150 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. Jonathan Taylor was dominant on the ground, picking up 110 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Trey Sermon scored the other Colts touchdown. It was a really hot and cold day for Anthony Richardson. He made a great throw down the sideline on another deep bomb to Alec Pierce in the first half, but there were a lot of missed throws. He consistently missed receivers, overthrowing them or having throws that were just off target. He threw two interceptions, with one of them coming on a third and goal. He tried to force the ball into double coverage, where it was picked off by Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. His other interception came on an overthrown ball intended for Michael Pittman Jr. Pittman Jr. was open in between two Bears defenders, but Richardson overthrew him by a large margin and into the hands of Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson. “I just got to settle down and let the ball spin,” Richardson said. “I just got to give myself time and give myself some grace.” Richardson doesn’t think he’s pressing too much. “It’s like, ‘Oh my gosh he’s wide open, let me get him the ball,’ and I just get too excited and I just miss him,” Richardson said. Richardson’s final line was 10-20 passes for 167 yards and two interceptions. Jaylon Jones had a big day in the Colts secondary, picking off Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams twice. “Some of those things, they just come around,” Colts head coach Shane Steichen said. ” You keep working, you keep grinding, and then all of a sudden, the ball finds you.” The Colts run defense was significantly improved, limiting the Bears to just 63 yards on 2.3 yards per carry.
