Many participants have expressed that they had never been on an outrigger canoe before, making this outing particularly special. Aloha Market attracts more than 7,000 Los Angeles visitors Last year, the event was renamed in honor of former WWO Board Member MG Frank Tate, who passed away in 2022. MG Tate served in the U.S. Army for 34 years, earning numerous awards for his distinguished service across Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. WWO’s mission is to offer enriching activities for wounded warriors and their families. In addition to the annual paddle, the organization hosts a variety of monthly events, including whale-watching cruises, luaus, and sporting events. WWO also provides monetary grants and scholarships for Gold Star families and children of wounded warriors.
