(WGHP) — Mostly sunny skies become partly cloudy skies this evening with temperatures in the mid-70s by 8 p.m. Clouds will continue to increase overnight leaving us with mostly cloudy skies to start off the work week. Not only will we see clouds return on Monday but rain chances also return. Isolated showers and storms will be possible throughout the day but it will not be a complete washout. Temperatures will be in the mid-60s in the morning with highs in the upper 70s. Scattered showers and storms will be possible on Tuesday with a 60% chance for rain. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s in the morning with highs in the mid-70s. By mid-week, rain chances will remain in the forecast. Morning temperatures will be in the upper 60s Wednesday morning with highs in the upper 70s. Isolated showers and storms will be possible with a 40% chance for rain. Isolated storms on Thursday with a 40% chance for rain. Temperatures remain in the upper 60s in the morning with highs in the upper 70s. While our early week rain comes from an abundance of moisture ahead of an approaching front, rain chances late in the week will likely depend on the arrival of the cold front as well as an area of interest in the tropics. A tropical disturbance is expected to form in the Gulf by mid-week and could eventually bring rainfall to the Carolinas by Friday/Saturday. For now, a scattered shower/storm chance is in the forecast for Friday with a 50% chance for rain but we'll be watching the area in the Gulf closely throughout the week and will be finetuning this forecast as we get closer. We may also see gusty winds Friday through the weekend, exact strength hasn't been determined yet but at least 10-20 mph winds will be possible. Mostly cloudy skies remain through the weekend with morning temperatures in the low to mid-60s and highs in the mid-70s. The chance for rain is 30%. Winds will likely remain breezy at around 10-15 mph.
