AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas strengthened its hold on the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press college football top 25 rankings following a 51-3 win over Louisiana-Monroe. The news organization released the latest rankings Sunday with the Longhorns receiving 44 first-place votes and 1,527 points overall. Texas received 35 first-place votes last week. The Sooners tumbled six spots to No. 21 after the home loss in their Southeastern Conference debut. Ole Miss, Miami, Oregon, Penn State and Utah round out the top 10. The Utes opened Big 12 play with a 22-19 win over Oklahoma State sending the Cowboys down six spots to No. 20.
