MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) said a police officer fatally shot an armed man in Silver Spring on Saturday night. Police said that at about 7:50 p.m., they responded to the 3400 block of Janet Road for the report of an assault in progress. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who was armed with an object. According to police, the officer gave the suspect multiple commands, but he did not comply and instead got closer to the officer and victims he had allegedly assaulted. Police: Shooting in Montgomery Village leaves 1 hurt The officer then shot him. Despite police providing life-saving measures, the man died there. Investigation of the shooting was passed over to the Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division (IID).
