ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) –UNM Football is now 0-4 on the season after a 38-21 loss to Fresno State on Saturday. It was the Lobos' Homecoming game: unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities and racking up a lot of penalties, it became UNM's fourth, consecutive loss. UNM finished with 17 penalties which amounted to 122 yards; 17 penalties ties a program record for most penalties in a game. Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall spoke about his teams miscues and says that it wasn't a clean enough game for his team to win. Too many mistakes, not only in terms of execution, but in penalties. "I see growth. I see progress. I see potential. It wasn't a matter of will or heart, or competitive spirit, we did not play clean enough to win the football game. As you saw," said Bronco Mendenhall. UNM is now 0-4 overall and 0-1 in MW Conference Play. The Lobos will now turn the page to New Mexico State, as they play the Aggies in this year's Rio Grande Rivalry game on Saturday in Las Cruces, at 6 p.m.
