HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- The Hopewell Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in two men being hospitalized. At 12:05 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, officers were called to the 1200 block of High Avenue for a report of multiple shots fired. When officers arrived at the scene they found multiple shell casings in the roadway. Police were then notified of a man who had walked into the emergency room of a nearby hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Immediately following that notification, police were called to the 200 block of East Broadway after a man was reported lying in a hallway with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel arrived and took the man to an area hospital for treatment. Investigators determined that the two men were victims of the High Avenue shooting. Both victims -- identified by police as Michael Gholson, 63, of Hopewell, and Reginald Wyche, 67, of Hopewell -- remain hospitalized at this time. The Hopewell Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit has launched an investigation into the shooting. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Lead Detective Shawn Grant at 804-541-2284.
